| Paella, a traditional dish in Barcelona |
Aside from the food, this city has so much to offer. There is so much history in Barcelona that everywhere you look, every corner you see has something special about it, and everything has a story to tell.
I am a huge soccer fan and it doesn't take much to notice that Barcelona has one of the best teams in the world: FC Barcelona. Though I am a Real Madrid fan (Madrid's most important soccer team), I have yet to visit Madrid so I cannot speak on behalf of the fan base there, but I can most definitely talk about the fans and the crazy environment one lives when there is a FC Barcelona game going on. If you love soccer as much as I do, you MUST experience this:
If you couldn't care less about soccer, then why not go visit some of Europe's most beautiful beaches that, yes you guessed right, are located in Barcelona.
1. Barceloneta
I must say that if you are looking for a relaxing time, Barceloneta is not for you. Here you will find yourself in a beach where drums are playing day and night, and where people see life as a big party. But you definitely don't want to miss going to Barcelona's most famous beach, which is this one.
2. Ocata
North of Barcelona, Ocata has a very peaceful and quiet environment with a lot of open space for you to lay down on the beautiful golden sand.
3. Nova Icária
This beach is ideal if you are taking a family vacation. It has a lot of open space for activities and sports. There are also many restaurants near the beach (and when I say many, I really mean an infinite amount).
Apart from beaches and soccer, there are many more things to do like visiting museums and you must of course take a whole day or two and go do a food tour around the city. Whatever you decide to do in Barcelona, you won't regret it.
