While visiting there last summer, just having been there two hours, I had already made the decision that that was not the last time I would be in New York City. You automatically belong there regardless if you are rich or poor, young or old, white or black. In the middle of chaos and of people moving as fast as they can to get to where they have to be (sometimes even running), you feel in peace and you feel free.
In New York City you can be yourself without feeling judged. There are so many different people, so much movement going on in all possible directions that the last thing people will even think about is to judge you or even look at you. You see every culture represented in NYC and if you ask me, that is one of the most beautiful aspects this city has. There are so many things to do in NYC that you will find yourself begging the day and night to be longer. The word "boredom" will not exist in your vocabulary when you are there. It is an amazing place to find new adventures, to meet new people, to see different places, different cultures and if you're there long enough, you might even find love.
Before I go forward with this blog, I would like to leave and friendly warning that if you are a little limited with money you might want to save more before traveling to NYC because you will be shocked at the prices and of the city basically devouring your wallet. With that said, I'd like to suggest some places that in my opinion you
MUST SEE when in the Big Apple.
Must See Places in NYC
Central Park - The most unusual and surrealistic place in New York. Walking around central park and seeing all of the activities going on and seeing people just admiring the oddness this place brings to NYC. Not because they haven't seen nature or trees but because it is extremely quiet and peaceful despite being placed in the middle of a chaotic city. Once you step in Central Park, you might even forget you are in NYC. If you are not going to Central Park to go on a run (as a lot of people do) I would recommend to take very comfortable shoes and willingness to spend more than a couple of hours here. The park is bigger than what it appears to be (and it already appears to be huge).
New York Public Library - A historic building with beautiful architecture inside and outside. This library will make you feel like you are living in a different time. It is absolutely breathtaking.
Brooklyn Bridge - Though this is not in NYC, you should make time to get on a subway (or taxi) and go to Brooklyn. The bridge gives you a different view of the city and it is just a nice place to go see.
Get On a Subway - It was a scary thing for me to do since I had never gotten on a subway before in my life, but it was worth it. If you are in NYC, you at least have to live the experience millions of people go through every day.
The Museum of Modern Art - This museum is so big, that you should plan to spend a whole day here, but trust me, you won't regret it.
Simply Walk Around - You won't live the full NYC experience if you are going from place to place in a taxi. Make sure you try to walk to all of the places as much as possible. This will make your experience unforgettable.
There are many more things to do that I could sit here and write all day about them. I would truly encourage you to go visit NYC when you get a chance. It might be a city that is expensive to visit, but the experiences and memories one takes from this city are priceless.
