If you like to watch terrible offense, week 7 was the week for you. With 8 teams scoring 10 or less points, including 3 shutouts, we are finally beginning to get a feel for who is here to stay and which teams should begin preparing for next year. At about the half way point into the 2017 season, there have been a few huge surprises such as the Jets, who have already matched their projected win total, the Broncos, who appear to possibly have one of the worst offenses in the league, and the Falcons, who appear to still be suffering a hangover from their 28-3 Super Bowl LI choke-job.
The week began Thursday with what is possibly the game of the year. The Chiefs went to Oakland in a matchup of one of the leagues greatest rivalries. It was a back-and-forth affair throughout the game, but it looked like luck was on the Chiefs' side when halfway though 3rd, Albert Wilson hauled in a 63 yard miracle from QB Alex Smith. But as any Chiefs fan should know, luck is never on our side; in other words, we "Chiefs'd" it. With 2:25 left and trailing 24-30, Derek Carr would lead the Raiders on a wild, game winning drive that was just too much for words.
In other news, Eagles rising star Carson Wentz looked to continue his MVP-like run against the Redskins and Monday night. After a slow start, the Eagles began to click in the 2nd quarter, scoring 17 to take a 17-10 lead in to half. After that, there was now looking back as Wentz would add another 2 touchdowns to make it a total of 4 and throw for 268 yards. Redskins QB Kirk Cousins also had a solid night, throwing for 3 touchdowns and 303 yards with a 75% completion percentage. With the win, the Eagles would move too 6-1, giving them the best record in football.
