Heading to the Halfway Point, NFL Standings Still Surprising

It was another strange week in the NFL as the 2017 nears the halfway point. Teams expected to dominate their respected divisions are close to .500 and teams not expected to be good at all are surprising everyone. Let’s look at the standings heading into week 7:

The Patriots have bounced back to take the lead in the AFC North after a controversial win over the Jets on Sunday. The offense continues to put up points with the defense giving them away. With the Falcons heading into Foxborough this weekend, expect it to be another game of who can get to 40 points first.

The Chiefs look to bounce back on Thursday night against the struggling Raiders after getting trampled by the 4-2 Steelers last week. And no surprise in the AFC South as you have a 3-way tie for first place: The Titans, Jags, and Texans all stand at .500.

In the NFC, things are a little more unpredictable. The Cowboys and second year quarterback Dak Prescott are trying to shake off a sophomore slump and get back to 2016 form. The Eagles start off hot again for the second year in a row trying to keep their three-game lead over the Cowboys. Cowboys travel to the winless 49ers and the Eagles play primetime Monday against the Redskins.

The Rams took back first place in the NFC West last week with the Seahawks on a bye week, and the Vikings took down the Packers and injured Aaron Rodgers in the process giving them the lead in the division and a chance to take the North with Case Keenum leading the Vikings offense. Packers will host the Saints on Sunday who are trying to catch up to the Panthers for the top spot in the NFC South.
