Federer wins Shanghai: Theim qualifies for London


Roger Federer dazzled the Shanghai crowd this past week by winning the Shanghai Masters Series title. Federer rolled into the final and then defeated top seed and rival Rafael Nadal to take the titles. This was Federer's 6th title of the year and 3rd masters title of the year. With this title, Federer remains at number 2 in the world behind Nadal.

That was not the only main news story of the week. Austrian Dominic Thiem became the fourth player to lock up a spot in the end of the year finals. Thiem entered the start of this year at number 8 in the world, but has slowly made his way into the top 5. He only has one title this year in Rio, but has made deep runs into every tournament he has played this year. This is Thiem's second consecutive year qualifying for the year end finals.

This week the eyes of the tennis world turn towards 3 tournaments. The Kremlin Cup in Moscow where top seed Pablo Carreno Busta is looking to stay hot and defend his title. The European Open in Antwerp,Belgium. David Goffin is the home favorite and currently 7th in the standings for the finals. The Stockholm Open in Sweden is the final event of the week where finalist hopeful Grigor Dimitrov is the top seed and is going for his 4th title of the year.
