Harvey Weinstein Sexual Assault Scandal

On Sunday, October 8th, the Weinstein Company fired Harvey Weinstein after he settle sexual harassment case with eight women. Rose McGowan, one of the eight woman in the case, was awarded a $100,000 settlement. However, Harvey stated that the settlement was not an admission of guilt to the case.

Since the first case was brought to the public more than 30 women have spoken out against Harvey Weinstein accusing him of sexual assault. Some of the women who have spoken out are Cara Delevingne, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Angelina Jolie

Angelina Jolie told the Times, without getting into specifics, that she had a bad experience with Harvey when she was younger and warned people against working for him when they did. She also stated after her encounter with Harvey she refused to ever work for the mogul again.

More recently Harvey Weinstein's wife, Georgina Chapman, announced that she would be separating from him. The former couple share two children together

In this wave of people speaking out against sexual assault in Hollywood, two men join their ranks. Terry Crews spoke out to the New Yorker saying that a “high level Hollywood executive” once groped him. He then went to twitter and posted a tweet about weighing how much people would believe the effected against the repercussions of reporting them.

In a series of tweets James Van Der Beek showed his support for those speaking out against the harassment. Van Der Beek admitted that when he was younger that “older, powerful men” forced him into inappropriate sexual conversations.
